Using both platforms I believe Amazon wins in the Merch By Amazon vs Shopify Print On Demand battle for ease of making sales. Both approaches have their pros and cons but Amazon just seems easier to make sales on.

  1. Thank you. You saved me a very big headache lol

  2. Can you do vid how u do AD on Instagram for merch by amazon?

  3. So I'm thinking since Amazon print is free, it wouldn't hurt to do both Shopify and Amazon 😉

  4. 5:45 absolutely brilliant, so true thank you!

  5. what's your shopify store link please?

  6. Hello Greg. It’s July 18 2018. Do you mind providing an update on your sales number? Thank you.

  7. I see the money invest first, Shopify is 30.00 a month to use them and that is the basic. If you are just getting started, learning the business and don't have any traffic, 30.00 a month is not a good investment.
I am sure Amazon has their downfalls too. A lady here on chat says she only made two sales in a year.
What if she only made two sales on Shopify, 30.00 a month times 12 months.

  8. I've had my Merch account for over a year and only managed to get 2 sales (from a cat shirt). And I seen a lot of people struggle on Merch. So I am shocked that you were able to get so many sales so fast. Is the secret that I should set my prices at cost until I tier up?

  9. Correct me if I'm wrong. You mention you made organic sales from Amazon, and that you uploaded your t-shirts, left them alone and came back later to see sales. BUT, haven't you been showing those designs in this channel from day one? And coincidentally they appeal to the type of audience your channel has. If that's the case, you really can't know for certain if the sales were organic or not.

  10. Let's see though if you actually make any real money from Merch by Amazon. The profit you make is small so you need to be selling A LOT of product on Amazon Merch to make any real money. Good to see you making a start though Greg.

  11. I think Shopify is better.
    1. You can achieve organic sales with SEO on your Shopify website
    2. Your margins are higher with Shopify because you don't pay those ridiculous royalties Amazon sellers have
    3. Amazon doesn't give you the metrics about the keywords that people used to discover and purchase your shirt -> more opportunity for data driven growth with Shopify
    4. No opportunity for repeat purchase on Amazon. You have no control of the funnel with Amazon whereas you build your own funnel with Shopify and have a chance to get repeat customers again
    5. No chance to do any kind of B2B on Amazon

  12. Greg
I've been following for a bit the thing that is most important to any potential start up is Net profit.
From what I can see the amazon model leaves very little for the designer ( I think your first payment was less than $7)
The Shopify model seems to give you more control and if you use the right Print on demand supplier , more net returns
    Thanks for the vids
